Named after Lady Brett Ashley in Hemingway's The Sun Also Rises and raised mainly in NYC, Brette graduated from New York's prestigious High School of Performing Arts. She also studied with the Cincinnati Ballet Preparatory Company at the University of Cincinnati's College-Conservatory of Music.
Audiences can look forward to seeing Brette in the co-leading role of KAREN MAGUIRE on A&E’s The Beast, which will air in early 2009. KAREN MAGUIRE is an FBI Agent, investigating a rogue fellow agent, played by Patrick Swayze. Brette has made numerous television appearances, including guest-starring roles on Law & Order, Law & Order-CI, Spin City, and All My Children. Brette is (often) remembered for her portrayal of “crazy” DEBBIE in the 2nd season of Denis Leary's TV drama Rescue Me. Other recent TV work includes guest-starring roles on the 100th episode of Law & Order-SVU (with Michael York), and NUMB3RS.
Among her film credits, Brette has a featured role alongside Julianne Moore & Pierce Brosnan in the hit comedy Laws of Attraction. She has also appeared in many other films, including Stealing Martin Lane (with Dylan Baker), Spit (with Eric Roberts), Town Diary (with David Andrews & Terry O'Quinn), Fortunes (with Michael McGlone), and Knots (with John Stamos, Scott Cohen & Annabeth Gish).
Brette performed the role of "Velma Kelly" in a piece from the musical Chicago at the West Bank Theatre with the ensemble dance group "And Company". Although she loved portraying Velma, Brette knows the role of “Roxie Hart” by heart(!), having seen Vicki Lewis’s knockout performance at the Cincinnati Playhouse, watching from the wings as a spellbound 12-year-old.
In addition to her career, Brette is an accomplished equestrian who is an advocate for horse safety, pressing for improved housing/stable standards that include mandatory sprinkler systems. She also recently completed a screenplay co-written with her mother Christine Parks, who is also a professional actress. Brette has a passion for singing & songwriting and listeners can hear her most recent songs on iTunes. Finally, she is an avid student of kickboxing, and has an extensive martial arts background, with expertise in Tae Kwon Do.
Growing up in the entertainment business with an acting/singing mother and a music producing stepfather, Brette’s been involved with creating and performing music from an early age. Her mother said, “[Brette] was always locking herself in her room and singing the latest hit in front of a full length mirror until she’d captured every nuance of the song and its artist. She’d come to all my rehearsals and have the whole show’s dance steps and tunes down cold before opening night.”
Along with her acting career, Brette is a talented and dedicated singer/songwriter. She currently has a select number of original songs available on iTunes. In spite of her New York City roots, much of her music has a country flavor, in the best storytelling sense.
